The new national standard for Mooncake Packaging Requirements, jointly issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the National Standardization Administration, will take effect on July 1, 2026. Under the new standard, mooncake packaging layers must not exceed three, and packaging void rate must not exceed 30%.

The regulation also specifies that mooncake packaging should not use precious metals or rosewood materials, and packaging costs must not exceed 20% of the product selling price. Violating companies may face fines of up to 50,000 yuan.
